Accumulator – A bet consisting
of two or more selections, where the winnings plus the
stake from each successive selection is automatically
re-staked on the next.
Across the card – Bets on races
at the same time at different racecourses.
Action – The value of bets laid
out by a punter.
Actual running time – The dog’s
final finish time
All up to win – Where the place
stake of an each-way bet is laid on the winner in races
of fewer than five runners.
All ways – The full range of
bets required to obtain full cover in forecast and tricast
betting.
Ante-post odds - Quotations given
prior to the day of a particular race. Bets so placed
are lost if your dog is a non-starter.
Any to come – An instruction
to reinvest all or part of a winning bet on another
bet.
Average early speed – The ability
of a dog to perform early in the race. Calculated by
adding the dogs start calls in the last six races and
dividing them by six
