Daily double – A bet that involves
picking the winner of both the first and second races.
Dead heat - When two or more selections
cannot be separated by the judge or by the photo finish.
Distance – The length of a race
in miles or feet
Double - A multiple bet. In a win
double both dogs must finish first for the double to
succeed. In an each-way or place double both dogs must
be placed to draw the place double dividend.
Double result – Where a bookmaker
makes a concession to pay out twice if the result of
an event is changed.
Double stakes about – Two singles,
each with an any-to-come single at twice the original
stake on the other selection, thereby trebling the stake
on each selection if both win.
Down-The-Card - Indicates races at
the same meeting.
Draw - The starting positions given
to the dogs in a race.
Dual Forecast - A Tote bet involving
the forecast of the first and second dogs in a race.
