Each way – To stake equal amounts
on both win and place in a single bet.
Early price – The odds in advance
of the start of a race, as opposed to the starting price.
Edge – The bookmaker’s
mathematical advantage.
Effective grade – How a dog
is classed in terms of its running ability.
Effective grade score – Numeric
score a dog is given to reflect its running ability.
Equally-divided – Where a double,
treble or other accumulator bets split the winnings
into two equal parts and place half on a win and half
on a place for each subsequent leg.
Even money (Evens) – Where an
equal amount is laid by the bookmaker to the amount
placed by the bettor. In other words, you would win
£1 for £1 staked (as well as getting your
stake back).
