Maiden – A dog that has not
yet won a race in any grade
Market - A market is created, according
to demand, by the prices offered for each runner by
bookmakers at the course.
Mark your card - Make selections for
each race.
Maximum payout – The absolute
top limit that an individual or firm of bookmakers will
pay out to a single customer on a single day. This limit
is not necessarily well publicised.
Monkey – A slang term for £500.
Multiple bet – Any bet where
a given number of selections are covered by doubles,
trebles, fourfolds etc.
