Taking a price – Accepting a
bet with the show price as opposed to the starting price.
Through-the-card – Where there
is a bet on every race on a racecard.
Tic-tac - A means of signalling with
the arms (and usually white gloves). Used by bookmakers'
agents to denote price changes
Tipster – Someone who seeks
to predict the outcome of a race.
Tissue odds – A betting forecast
used by bookmakers, which has been compiled by a form
expert
Trap number – The greyhounds
start a race from numbered boxes, which are decided
in advance and indicated on the racecard.
Trifecta – A bet that requires
selecting the top three finishers in the correct order
Tote board – A display board
that lists the current odds of all the dogs
Track condition – Description
of the current state of a tracks running surface
Track rating – A numeric grade
from 1-5 given to identify the quality of the track
Track take – The money kept
by the track out of the betting pool to cover its overheads
Treble - A multiple bet. Thus in a
win treble all three dogs must win for the bet to succeed.
In an each-way or place treble all three dogs must be
placed to draw the place treble return.
Tricast – A bet where the punter
predicts three runners to finish first, second and third
in the correct order.
Trio – This is the tote pool
at a greyhound track for tricast bets.
