Front and back runners
Most greyhounds prefer to race either
at the front of the pack, but there are some dogs who
prefer to take it from behind. Although neither is more
desirable than the other they are both evaluated differently.
To further determine a dogs running style, you must
find out whether they are front or back runners. The
easiest way to do this is to look at where the dogs
were positioned in their last six start splits.
Front runners would normally be well positioned at
the first split, while back runners would consistently
be found further back in the pack. You should separate
the front and back runners when you analyse the dog’s
preference for running inside or outside.
