Betting - Limited wheel
Often the best combination bets is that
of the limited wheel. To create a limited wheel a handicapper
must look for two things. The first is a key dog and
the second is a reduced number of contenders. If there
is no key dog then a box bet must be made.
When playing the limited wheel, the key dog must finish
first or second in order for you to win. It matters
not whether the key dog is a longshot or favourite as
long as it outclasses the rest of the field enough to
win a race.
In order to prevent the costs of the bet from spiralling
out of control you must try to eliminate as many of
the dogs from the bet as possible. This is done by analysing
the difference in points between the dogs.
The highest number of contenders that you should wheel
with your key dog is four. Although this may increase
the bet, if there are four true contenders than it still
makes sense.
By creating a limited wheel you get the most amount
of coverage for the least amount of money. Below is
an example of what a limited wheel may look like
Highest rated dog in the race 2
Top 3 contenders 1,4,6
Limited wheel, key dog win 2 (win)
position only 1,4,6 (place)
The number 6 is the key dog and is positioned on top
with the three contenders. It must win the race, but
any combination of contenders can finish second and
the example above illustrates what both the wheel and
your ticket would look like.
